According to an analysis presented by Li Qingwei, Secretary-General of the China Association of Steel Construction, at the "18th China Steel Summit Forum" in April 2026, China's steel structure industry holds immense potential for future growth. The Association has put forward the "2035 Action" initiative, aiming to double the output of steel structures.

Key tasks include leveraging the leading role of design institutes to optimize project schemes; encouraging proactive collaboration within the steel industry to enhance the R&D and supply of steel materials; and encouraging steel enterprises to extend their value chains by further processing rolled sections into structural components, thereby fostering integrated development across the entire industrial chain. Steel structures enable the concept of "embedding steel within architecture," and their inherent recyclability aligns perfectly with the principles of green building.

To facilitate the industry's transformation from a "large nation" into a "strong nation," it is recommended that efforts be advanced synergistically across four key dimensions: the industry sector, the industrial ecosystem, materials, and collaborative platforms. Specifically, this entails increasing industry concentration, cultivating modern steel structure enterprises, promoting the widespread use of hot-rolled H-beams and high-performance steel materials, and establishing a collaborative innovation platform that integrates production, academia, research, and application across the entire industrial chain.
