In the refining, petrochemical, coal chemical, power, and steel industries, carbon steel has become the preferred choice for the vast majority of towers due to its low material cost, mature processing technology, and suitability for large-scale production.


We design according to ASME VIII, PD 5500 or GB 150. The wall thickness of a tower is usually determined by the design pressure, tower diameter, medium density, and wind/seismic loads. For large atmospheric or low-pressure towers (such as distillation towers), wall thickness is often controlled by stiffness or external loads, rather than simply internal pressure strength. We will calculate the thickness separately for each section of the cylinder to avoid excessive design.


Q345R and Q235B are commonly used as materials, and 16MnDR or 09MnNiDR are selected for low-temperature conditions. Weld seam inspection adopts radiation or ultrasound, and the inspection ratio is determined according to the medium hazard level and standard requirements. For towers that withstand pressure cycles, such as pressure swing adsorption towers, fatigue analysis will also be conducted.
The tower internals (distributor, packing support, downcomer, tray) can be made of carbon steel, stainless steel, or carbon steel lining according to the corrosiveness of the medium. Wear resistant pads can be added to areas that are prone to erosion. After sandblasting and rust removal on the outer surface, apply epoxy zinc rich primer and polyurethane topcoat; Coastal or high humidity environments can increase coating thickness or use metal spraying.

Customization capability

 

We have professional processing equipment: plate rolling machines, automatic submerged arc welding machines, CNC cutting machines, and post weld heat treatment furnaces and so on. The maximum diameter of the overall factory can reach 6.5m, and the maximum length of a single section is about 45m. For larger or taller towers, they can be manufactured in sections, welded on site, and provided with on-site circumferential seam assembly and non-destructive testing services. We can provide ASME U stamp, PED certification, and classification society certificate.

We suggest that customers provide detailed data on operating conditions, especially trace components, so that we can make reasonable choices on corrosion allowance and whether to increase inner wall coating.
