Vertical Air Cooler

The vertical air cooler adopts a tube bundle vertical arrangement structure, which is more suitable for working conditions where the factory space is tight, the device layout is compact, or installation can only be carried out using the gap between the equipment side and the frame. Compared with conventional horizontal air coolers, it occupies a smaller area with the same heat transfer capacity and can fully utilize vertical space. Its advantages are obvious in scenarios such as old equipment renovation, narrow site layout, and side hanging integration.

The main body of the equipment consists of a vertical tube bundle, a support frame, a side mounted fan, and a protective structure. The fan can be installed horizontally or vertically according to the site ventilation conditions, maintenance channel location, and maintenance convenience. During operation, the air laterally flushes the finned tube bundle, completing heat exchange with the process medium inside the tube. The overall airflow organization is stable and suitable for continuous production conditions.

In a revamping project of a coastal refinery, only a narrow passage was left between existing pipe racks and equipment, making installation of standard horizontal air coolers impossible. Based on on-site clearance dimensions, equipment spacing, and operating height, we optimized bundle width, frontal area, air inlet direction, and maintenance openings. The unit was successfully installed without modifying the main layout. After commissioning, heat exchange performance remained stable, the footprint was reduced by approximately 40% compared to an equivalent horizontal unit, and no interference was caused to on-site inspection or maintenance.

Vertical air coolers have stricter requirements for structural load and installation stability. Our design strictly follows NB/T 47007 (Air-cooled Heat Exchangers) and API 661 (Petroleum, Chemical, and Gas Industry Air-cooled Heat Exchangers). For critical parts such as vertical frames, bundle supports, and fan bases, we perform stress calculation and modal analysis using finite element analysis (FEA) to avoid excessive vibration, structural fatigue, or deformation during long-term operation, ensuring mechanical reliability under continuous working conditions.

For high-salt, high-humidity corrosive environments such as offshore platforms and coastal power plants, we strengthen material selection, surface treatment, and protection ratings accordingly, including corrosion-resistant alloy tubes, heavy-duty anti-corrosion coatings, and high-protection electrical components. Products can complete full classification society certification as required by the project, covering design, manufacturing, inspection, and documentation. Certifications from mainstream societies including ABS, BV, DNV, and CCS are available to meet the requirements of offshore and marine projects.
